      Made some progress on the story, tying up how you get to the final (new) boss. Polishing, tweaking, adding more visual detail here and there

      Finished designing the boss arena for the third to last boss. Polishing up the existing mod content. Keeping on schedule...

      Holy sh*t. Been bumping up the damage for a lot of the enemies, anddd... made ish way too hard. Toning it down now, toning it down ;p

        I want it to be a challenge but yeah I hope it finds the right balance. Also, I want periods of badassery mixed with new difficulties, so there's a mix of flows. All this should get worked out during beta. But yeah.. somewhere in between just right??? :D

        I would say... many moments. :) Also the final boss was custom designed and is a ton of fun to play (especially melee style), as it is entirely skill based (all attacks can be dodged but you have to stay on your toes and dance like a zen warrior to defeat him) and the AI patterns are nicely varied and unpredictable.

        Ha, yeah, you will have the beta in a week or so. Depends on how fast everything progresses and the bosses that get released on the 14th. But I can try to get all the broad strokes finished for that and such work on fine-tuning and adding any extras during the beta period.

        One thing is for sure, you'll be glad I took the extra time. At the end of march I think I was just getting the new game mechanic hashed out and implemented. It's really grown in scope over the last 2 weeks. Plus a new boss. :)

      Remember when you were talking about "Integrating the Reborn mod v 1.3 (or 2, whatever is released on the 24th along with parts of W1K and Omnir's mods (and Obsidian's if the multiplayer bugs get hashed out)." a few weeks back? Those were much simpler tiems.

      Maybe Empio could help with the boss summoning items? Also, from what I understand, this won't be some mods to install, it's just your own mod customized to the map's liking? Would it be good for outside use?

        Yep, 1 mod to install using select bits from a dozen mods or so, with recipes changed for most everything to fit with the game's mechanic. Shortly after release I'm going to start a mod thread with the release of the Red Cloud Mod, which will be compatible with randomly generated maps as well, though the true potential of the mod will always be for custom maps (you'll see why when you play it)

        I may talk to CMHQ about some global cs codes to make a specific tile needed for crafting to generate throughout the new worlds. Though I'll also be encouraging folks to design new maps using the mod as well, expanding and tailoring it to taste.

      So let me get this straight, just in case I'm wrong: This map, is a huge RPG experience with huge dungeons, expanisve content, custom content, exploration, discovery, and a mix of sandbox and adventure?!?!?

        That said, yes I hope it captures at least some of the feeling of this game. :D Pre-hard mode and hard mode, to balance with the new mod stuff, are both going to get a notch up in difficulty, so that getting the upgrades will be necessary and satisfying.. Mmm you shall see soon. And I can stop being vague ;P

        If you do ever make another map with the Red Cloud Mod, how about branching paths? It'd be a complex chest setup using hidden chests and such to choose to make a sword. Also, I heard you said something about sacrificing to a god earlier on your work on the map. Will this be a karma choice?

        Yea I might make a pure sand-box version just for the fun of it. We shall see. The sacrifice is more of a narrative device, I'd say. But it is optional, though, to advance the story.

        I actually thought you did a good job on Lich. My house mate saw it and actually complimented how good it looked, not knowing anything about it beforehand. I mean, it's using more complicated animations than anything in the original game. By the way, will you be putting anything out for the boss competition, just for fun?

      Just made a new magic item, the Bloom Shards enchantment: short range blue crystal particles that linger in front of the player. Fun times.

      Spent three hours last night getting an enhanced Magic Mirror mod working with dust effects (based off Empio's Farore mod).

        Oddly enough, the use time being set to 90/30 is what was causing it not to display on teleport. Put it down to 2 and it worked like a charm.

        Yea there's a ton to choose from. I'm currently going through the selection process now. Picking out the best stuff from about a dozen mods. Definitely gonna be paring it down to keep it focused and the quality high

        Plus a lot of it will be discovered or crafted, (and some stuff will have upgrade tiers, so if you don't upgrade an item you'll never know what that can be upgraded to) so no one will likely discover everything or use everything, ensuring everyone has a unique experience.. depending on what you want to specialize in.

        This is true. Just hoping. I'm also awaiting CMHQ to release their Egyptian themed Pharaoh boss. Though it won't be required. And there's an exciting looking spells mod that will also be releasing on the 14th.

        Either way, I've just started diving into mod integration, which will probably take at least a week or so, as I'm going to be tweaking several things and also changing the crafting requirements for everything I include (which will also involve game balancing and such) so all that is going to be keeping me busy. :)
