i managed to get the 009 version before it was removed. but there was nothing new changed in it, seems like it was still a WIP download link...
there wasnt much done in 009 (which was before the official dedicated client came out) besides the removal of XNA and a couple of other minor fixes. 010 should be out soon. Although I wish they had dedicated servers like steam does with a browser list of some sort. and some dam mod support seriously : /
It's not because it was better; it was for blatant and ineluctable legal reasons. Unauthorized redistribution of copyrighted material, modified or not, is illegal and even if they wanted to, the staff of an official forum cannot allow it to continue. I said it earlier and I'll say it again, the author of that modified server should have instead contacted Redigit directly with his modifications rather than unleash it in the open.
It remained up for a while regardless of copyright issues, so why was it deleted in the end? Oh yeah, because some dumbass reported a /give command as if it was the devil, and the mods deleted it. It was serving a purpose and didn't get deleted while there was no other dedicated servers, it was still superior and now its gone. That version was not working properly, there was some monster spawning issues.
Maybe as a guy that steals a lot, I can't see things from your point of view. Either way, you're wrong, and need to not be so butthurt about matters. If they don't want this to happen, they can get on the ball and make their server client better. Until then, I'll keep using what I want.
I'm not butthurt about it, I don't really care at all in fact. I'm not planning on hosting any server for the time being, so... Butthurtness seems rather to emanate from the people that are all "evil forum people are ruining our fun just to be big meanie-heads!!!!".
