Oh cool, maybe now I won't have to use tMod. Also, will the dedicated servers support plugins? Or is it just going to be the basic bare bones commands?
We'll know soon enough. One thing we should probably do is identify who can host large scale dedicated servers. I'm one of those people with a windows based sever computer. Dragon's Den is 24/7 and has a 35/35 mb upload and download potential. That should be good enough to handle some traffic. Will post details on relevant forum. heh
Thanks a lot for the hard job and updates devs!!, I still can't belive there is people bitching about minor things in this thread.
im hopeing they get armors for diffrent genders like it will look diffrent also armor that olny one gender could were would be cool XD
Awesome. Dedicated servers will be great. I hope languages are updated. I can't even do smileys. My colon isn't working. Instead of a colon I get some { signs... It would also be nice to see the actual world names in the world folder, instead of world1, world 2 etc.. It's really hard to find the right world when you want to send it to someone.
What's with people all over blindly bashing DSL? I see it constantly around on the internet. Yet, I've been using DSL for many years and never had I had any sort of lag related problem that had anything to do with my connection. On topic: This is great news, can't wait for the new update. Though I'm not sure why a certain misinformed person seems to be up in arms against people who want a Linux server. A game doesn't have to be able to run on Linux for a server from the game to run on it. There are always tons of games that are not playable by any normal means on Linux that still have a Linux dedicated server. Linux is just the better option for hosting a server, as it's usually cheaper and more reliable to run a server on.
The game is 32 bit. So it will use up to 4 GB of your ram. Unless they make the dedicated server software 64 bit.
The uploading part, maybe, if you were trying to host something with a lot of connections. However, I'm pretty sure for the download part and connecting to server even a fairly cheap, fairly low downstream will not be fully utilized for a connection to a game server. You don't need need a massive download speed to get a good connection for playing games, not even close. That's for downloading large stuff fast, not for playing games. I don't download a lot of stuff myself, I use one of the cheaper packages for my DSL. My downstream is 3Mbps, yet I have 0 lag when I play online games, and in fact have lower latency than a lot of other people I have played with that have massive expensive connections.
