Just wanted to make a thread pointing out Easter eggs and references. If there is any I missed, comment to tell me. References: Hero's outfit - The Legend of Zelda Robot hat - Cave Story Archaeologist's suit - Indiana Jones Doctor's clothes - Doctor Who Santa Costume - Christmas Plumber's clothes - Mario Easter Eggs: You can move the sun and moon on the title screen. If you grapple to a doorknob and then open the door, it shoots you out. (this was originally a glitch which shot you across the map, but the developers decided to make it so it only shoots you a bit and kept it as an Easter egg) Other: Mythril (this was what Frodo wore that was as strong as a dragon's scale but as light as a feather. Idk if this is a reference because it appears in many other games as well.) Chaos Elementals (is this Rune Scape?)
terraria is littered with references to other games and pop culture like alot of the enemies Wyvern= Haku from the movie Spirited away Antlion= from Half Life 2 Giant bats=golbats from Pokemon corrupt bunny= the killer rabbit from Monty python cursed hammer= castlevania reference mimics= Legend of Zelda and TONS of other games doctor bones= indiana jones the groom= shawn of the dead tim= wizard from monty python also for wepons... excaliber= the legendary sword excaliber blue moon= the frank sunatra song gungir= oden's spear in greek mythology light disk= tron space gun= lego star wars rainbow rod= kirby ice rod= legend of zelda thats all i can think of off the top of my head
do not forget the Marumasa being the name of a master swordsman. The Dao of Pow, being ying yang thingy. Many, and i mean to many to count, quotes from the characters (like the "i thought u would be taller" being a famous quote used in every hero movie)
Giant bats are just a idea the devc had to make bats a little more powerful, nothing big there... Corrupt bunny is it because a bunny wouldnt be hallowed if it goes visit corruption Antlion are a actual real life creature that make traps in sand... and terrarias are nothing like hl2's
Shut up and dig Gaiden!-Shut up and Jam Gaiden! There is no cow layer-MOO! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSlGQpvl_IA) Small blocks, not for children under the age of 5-toys, lego's, etc. Digger T' Blocks-Worker T blood cell Part 3: Return of the Guide-Star Wars/Lord of the Rings Phasesabers-Star Wars Slimeassic Park-Jurassic Park Dr. Bones and the Temple of Blood Moon-Indiana Jones
I'm still convinced that the wyverns are actually Falcor from the Neverending story, and I get mad that they don't help me
The King Slime is a reference to Ninja Gaiden (I think...), which is why there is a ninja inside of it.
It still looks like a lightsaber, and I don't think terraria would be sued over it because lightsabers are now everywhere.
The WoF is a reference to a boss from a certain game... I forgot which one. Might be a refrence to the Corpse Ball from Castlevania: Something something something.
