    A5Welcome to Terraria:
Terraria is a 2D side-scrolling survival game in which you can dig, fight, explore, build, and craft. Those five words may remind you of Minecraft, which this game technically is, but not the exact same. Terraria has so many things that it would take a while to tell you all in one paragraph. I'll just list a few features Terraria has:

    * a 2D randomly generated world with caves, dungeons, underground jungles, mushroom forests, hell worlds, and much more

    * working multiplayer

    * over 20 mobs and three bosses

    * tons of items to craft and find

    * and much, much more...

Now that you have an idea of what Terraria is, let's get started with the guide.

    A6 Starting the Game/Settings:
You can buy the game for $9.99 via Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/105600/). Once you've installed the game on your Steam account, open it and you'll be at the main menu. The first thing you'll want to do is enter the Settings sub-menu and configure your settings.
    The Terraria settings

    * Go Full-screen/Windowed - This option allows you to switch between full-screen and windows mode (default is windowed)

    * Resolution - Adjust your resolution

    * Cursor Color - Adjust your cursor color (default is red)

    * Volume - Adjust your volume (default is Sound: 100 ; Music: 75)

    * Controls - Adjust your controls

    * Parallax - Adjusts your background tiles moving (default is 0)

    * Frame Skip On/Off - This option allows you to switch between Frame Skip On and Frame Skip Off (default is on)

Now that you've configured your settings, go back to the main menu and click on Single-player. You can now create and customize your character.
    Character customization

Once you're done with that, press Create and enter your character name. Then click on Accept. Now, click on your character and create your world.
    Choosing your world size

    * Small - Recommended

    * Medium

    * Large - Not recommended

It's recommended to go Small because you won't have to travel too much to find dungeons and such. If you want to go Medium or Large, you can. When you choose your World Size, enter your World Name and the game will create your world. When it's done, click on your world and get ready to enter Terraria.

    A7 Getting Ready for Night-time:
    Your first moments of Terraria

Now that you're in the game, the first thing you should do is get some wood. Switch between your items in your inventory by using the mouse wheel, clicking on your items, or using the number pad (1-0). Switch to your Copper Axe and point your cursor at the bottom of a tree. Now, hold the left-mouse click to chop it down. Do this until you have about 100 wood. By the way, you can attack enemies by swinging your tools/weapons at the enemy. Once you've got enough wood, build a house by placing tiles. You can do this by left-clicking on the ground. Once you've secured yourself in a house, open up your inventory (default hotkey is Esc). Look at the bottom left, that is your crafting menu. To craft an item, click on the item and drag it to your inventory. You can scroll the crafting menu with your mouse wheel. For now, craft a workbench. Once you've crafted it, place it in your house by left-clicking on the ground in open space. Now you'll be able to craft more complex items such as furnaces, swords, hammers, and much more. Stand next to your workbench and open up your inventory to use it. For now, craft yourself a Wooden Sword and a Wooden Hammer (which is used for breaking background tiles (more on this later) and decorations. After you've crafted the two items, craft about 70 or so Wooden Walls, depending on your house size. Wooden Walls are background tiles that prevent monsters from spawning. Now, craft two doors and use your Copper Axe to make space for the doors. Place the doors down by left-clicking on the ground. Also, you should craft some torches (they require gel from slimes, so kill them for the gels) and light up your house. Craft a table and a chair and place them next to each other. This attracts NPCs (such as merchants, nurses, and arms dealers) to move in. But since the first house is the Guide's (who is a tutorial bot for the game, you might've seen him wandering around, just right-click on him to talk), you will need to build multiple houses for the other NPCs. Your house should look like this:
    A basic house

Okay, so now that you've got a house, night-time should be falling soon. If it's a Blood Moon (yes, there are moon phases in the game), then you are in deep danger. You can tell if it's a Blood Moon by looking at the sky. The sky is red if it's a Blood Moon. If this is the case, then barricade your doors by placing blocks in front of them.

A8What To Do During The Night:
    [IMG][IMG]
    The night creatures

When the night-time music plays (yes, there is a different audio during night-time), the night creatures will spawn. These are Zombies and Demon Eyes. Zombies are slow and walk towards you while Demon Eyes are fast and can fly. They're quite powerful, so don't roam around during the night if you don't want to die and lose your money (you can pick it up within a certain amount of time before it disappears). A good suggestion on what to do would be to explore caves. You can also kill some Zombies for money and Demon Eyes for money and lenses. When the daytime music plays, the night creatures despawn, and the slimes emerge.

    A9 Exploring Caves:
    An entrance to a cave

Now it's time to go mining, as you will need stone and other minerals to make better gear. Explore around until you find a surface cave. Make sure to have torches (which are craft-able via wood and gel (from slimes).

    Tips:
    • Use torches to light your path, as they will provide light and show you the route you took.
    • Stop for any ore, as you will need them later on to craft better gear.
    • Keep your torch close to your tools so it won't take a while to scroll to it.
    • Keep a weapon close by, as monsters are likely to spawn
    • Smash any pots you see, as these contain useful items
    • Don't jump into large bodies of water recklessly
More tips will come in the future.

    -Copper looks like orange stone
-Iron looks like light brownish stone
    -Silver looks like white-gray stone
    -Gold looks like yellow stone.

Keep exploring until you get seriously bored, reach a dead end or die. Don't worry, as dying only makes you loose half of your money. Also, if you do reach a dead end, craft a few wooden platforms and dig straight down, making sure to place wooden platforms every once in a while. Dig straight down until you reach another cave.

    B1 Getting Better Gear:

So, now what do you do with all those ores? Craft a furnace (which requires stone, wood and torches) and place it near your workbench (it operates like one too). Then, open up your inventory and turn your ores into bars. If you have five iron bars, craft an anvil next to your workbench and furnace. This anvil is used for crafting gear. If you have enough, your first priorities should be a better sword (the broadsword is recommended). Armour is also a good idea, but it uses quite a bit of bars.

    B2 Alchemy:

So, now that you've gotten a few of the basics, how do you craft potions and such? Well, potions are going to be one of the most important tools in survival. Potions can heal your HP and MP, and can also give you specific buffs (refer to section [A47], without the "[]"). Well, too craft an Alchemy Station, just craft a bottle with some sand at a furnace, and place the bottle on a table or workbench. Now, when you open your inventory near it, you can craft potions. Refer to the next section for a list of plants and where to find them. I may also include a tutorial for farming these plants *hint hint*.

    B21]The Botanist's Guide

This section is not yet finished.

    B3 A Defensive Formula:
The defense formula is complicated. Here it is:

2 Def. points = -1 damage to you. If your number of Def. points is an odd number, than it's damage reduction is rounded up to the even number of Def. points above the odd number's damage reduction.

    Here's an example:
16 Def. points would have an 8 damage reduction.
15 Def. points would have an 8 damage reduction.
17 Def. points would have a 9 damage reduction.
    And so on...

    B4NPC's:
An NPC is a Non-Player character. They do many things, for the good or bad of a player. All NPC's require a house to live in. A house is classified as:

    • Must have Walls and Background walls
    • Must have a table and a chair
    • Must have at least one permanent light source (Torch, candle, etc.)
    • Must be at least 5x7 blocks (5 tall, 7 wide)
There are 8 NPC's in all. Here's a description for all of them:

The Guide is the first NPC you'll meet. He spawns right when you spawn. He seems cool at first, but he's a real pain in the butt when you get better. The guide has 2 functions. They are:
    • Gives you general info of getting good stuff in the game
    • If you show him an item, He'll tell you what you can make with it.
The guide takes up any house he can, so that's why he pains players. If no house is available, He'll just run around aimlessly. To kill the guide, you can throw him in lava, throw the Guide Voodoo Doll in lava, or equip the doll and attack the guide. The Guide Voodoo Doll is dropped by "Voodoo demons" in the underworld. It's tooltip is "You are a terrible person".

    Quotes:
    • You can use your pickaxe to dig through dirt, and your axe to chop down trees. Just place your cursor over the tile and click!
    • If you want to survive, you will need to create weapons and shelter. Start by chopping down trees and gathering wood.
    • Press ESC to access your crafting menu. When you have enough wood, create a workbench. This will allow you to create more complicated things, as long as you are standing close to it.
    • You can build a shelter by placing wood or other blocks in the world. Don't forget to create and place walls.
    • Once you have a wooden sword, you might try to gather some gel from the slimes. Combine wood and gel to make a torch!
    • To interact with backgrounds and placed objects, use a hammer!
    • You should do some mining to find metal ore. You can craft very useful things with it.
    • Now that you have some ore, you will need to turn it into a bar in order to make items with it. This requires a furnace!
    • You can create a furnace out of torches, wood, and stone. Make sure you are standing near a work bench.
    • You will need an anvil to make most things out of metal bars.
    • Anvils can be crafted out of iron, or purchased from a merchant.
    • Underground are crystal hearts that can be used to increase your max life. You will need a hammer to obtain them.
    • If you gather 10 fallen stars, they can be combined to create an item that will increase your magic capacity.
    • Stars fall all over the world at night. They can be used for all sorts of useful things. If you see one, be sure to grab it because they disappear after sunrise.
    • There are many different ways you can attract people to move in to our town. They will of course need a home to live in.
    • In order for a room to be considered a home, it needs to have a door, chair, table, and a light source. Make sure the house has walls as well.
    • Two people will not live in the same home. Also, if their home is destroyed, they will look for a new place to live.
    • If you want a merchant to move in, you will need to gather plenty of money. 50 silver coins should do the trick!
    • For a nurse to move in, you might want to increase your maximum life.
    • If you had a gun, I bet an arms dealer might show up to sell you some ammo!
    • You should prove yourself by defeating a strong monster. That will get the attention of a dryad.
    • If you combine lenses at a demon altar, you might be able to find a way to summon a powerful monster. You will want to wait until night before using it, though.
    • You can create worm bait with rotten chunks and vile powder. Make sure you are in a corrupt area before using it.
    • Demonic altars can usually be found in the corruption. You will need to be near them to craft some items.
    • You can make a grappling hook from a hook and 3 chains. Skeletons found deep underground usually carry hooks, and chains can be made from iron bars.
    • You can craft a space gun using a flintlock pistol, 10 fallen stars, and 30 meteorite bars.
    • If you see a pot, be sure to smash it open. They contain all sorts of useful supplies.
    • There is treasure hidden all over the world. Some amazing things can be found deep underground!
    • Smashing a shadow orb will cause a meteor to fall out of the sky. Shadow orbs can usually be found in the chasms around corrupt areas.
    • You should stay indoors at night. It is very dangerous to be wandering around in the dark. ( During the night )
    • You can tell a Blood Moon is out when the sky turns red. There is something about it that causes monsters to swarm. ( During a Blood Moon )
The Merchant is another NPC you'll meet in your early days. Unlike the guide, The merchant must have a task done and a house built for him to move in. The task is to have at least 50 silver coins. The merchant has one use: To sell things.

    B5Bases:
    Bedroom

The only truly mandatory part of a player's base is a bedroom. Walling off an area and placing a bed in it provides the player with a reliable place to respawn, and if the player has a Magic Mirror, a safe zone to restock after adventuring.
    Crafting

While dropping a crafting table somewhere in the base is entirely optional, having a centralized crafting area can keep things more organized. The crafting stations are workbench, anvil, furnace (or hellforge), alchemy station, table, and a chair next to either the workbench or table. These items altogether probably warrant their own room. Keep raw materials nearby, or even put this area near the main storage area.
Note that putting down a chair near a table/workbench may cause NPCs to move in. To avoid this, simply don't bother with the chair. The only recipes that the chair and workbench/table combination provide are the Goggles (which are a mostly cosmetic item), Sunglasses (which is also a cosmetic item), three different watches and the Depth Meter. Once all NPCs have moved in you can place the chair without fear of unwanted NPCs, unless of course one happens to die.
    Storage

A hallmark of Terraria is that the longer you have played, the more storage you need. Several carefully organized, dedicated rooms of chests are recommended. Signs can be useful for labeling chests or rooms of chests. However, it is recommended that you create a storage room deep underground, filled with your most valuable possessions. Doing this will Guarantee a safe place for all your possessions that won't be destroyed if a meteor were to fall on your house.
    Houses

A house is an enclosed area fitting certain requirements that will house an NPC. Getting NPCs to swap houses is very annoying and difficult, usually requiring the intentional death of at least one NPC. So it is generally a good idea to try to get this right the first time.
For best results, houses should open into each other and central hallways rather than directly to the outside. During a blood moon, it is easiest to defend the NPCs if there is only a single door to the outside that needs to be barricaded.
Appropriate decorations for each NPC house can add a bit of flavor - bottles in the Nurse house, books with the Guide, some flower pots for the Dryad, and so on. This should be done after the NPC has moved in, since otherwise it is nearly impossible to get the NPC to move to the house that you want.
    Gardening

Gardening is the practice of intentionally spawning resources in a convenient area for harvest.
There are several plants and fungi that can successfully be farmed in Terraria, though there are a few things to keep in mind.
To farm you'll first need to collect seeds.
    Seeds

Seeds are a special item used to grow a certain type of vegetation/environment. They can be used to create Farms, to harvest items with more ease.
Tree Seeds are used to grow trees, Three types of tree exist, two are self-growing and one is corrupted.
Grass Seedsare used to grow grass on various types of soil.
Potion Plant Seeds are used to grow Potion plants and can be planted in their native soil or in empty Clay Pots
All the grasses spread fairly quickly, so a large amount of it isn't necessary. One seed will eventually fill an entire garden, except you only get one tree per acorn. Surface mushrooms grow more abundantly when you trim your grass.
You'll then need to prepare the appropriate environment.
    Potion/Seed Farm

Simple seed garden for the new plants used to create the variety of potions added in 1.0.5. Individual notations are made on each section (such as soil type, harvest conditions, and special instructions. This design can be easily expanded each time the farming process is complete.
Tip: You can single out specific plants to be cut, with the Ivy Whip/Grapple, as they'll only cut the items in their path to anchor.
The preferable method for growing and harvesting potion plants is though the use of pots. Seeds from all potion plants can be planted and grow in empty Clay Pots. As of 1.0.5, plants in pots may only be harvested with a Pickaxe and therefore specific plants can easily be chosen, leaving immature and non-blooming plants alone. Only Blooming plants drop seeds, where as immature plants drop nothing, so it is best to wait for the blooming period.
    Normal Mushrooms

Normal mushrooms will grow anywhere with normal grass. To make a normal mushroom farm, simply place several layers of dirt with gaps in between. The grass must be naturally lit. Most farms can produce roughly 5-10 mushrooms per screen per harvest.
Note that vines will grow down from strips of grassy dirt, preventing the growth of mushrooms. To combat this, add a layer of stone (or other non-dirt block) under each layer of dirt. Wooden platforms are an excellent option here since the player can walk through them, allowing layers to be packed more tightly.
    Trees

A tree farm is usually nothing more than a big flat area where the player uses their acorns. If the tree farm sees heavy use, the player might level off the area more carefully. It is possible to layer tree farms like the mushroom farms, but trees require far more height.
Also note tree spacing. Each sapling should have two empty spaces on either side of it; you can use underground markers such as torches to make this easier. Additionally, cut the grass around saplings as it impedes their growth.
As they have similar requirements, a tree farm may also serve as an arena for the Goblin Army.
A surface jungle is much more efficient because the trees grow automatically. A large, flat area of mud 3 blocks deep and jungle grass on the surface will automatically grow trees. This is also a great way of obtaining green dye. The only disadvantage of this method are the monsters. Surface jungle monsters like jungle slimes and snatchers will appear.
    Glowing Mushrooms

The most worthwhile thing to intentionally grow. A Glowing Mushroom farm unfortunately has to be underground, far enough where the Depth Meter reads below 0. They usually consist of several layers of mud with planted Mushroom Grass Seeds on them. Keep a gap between them tall enough to walk through.
A small garden of this sort goes a long way. One roughly the size of the screen can provide as many as 200 glowing mushrooms in a single harvest - enough for around seven full stacks of potions.

    Jungle

There are two major resources to gather from a jungle farm, Jungle Seeds and Jungle Roses. Jungles require mud to grow.
    • Jungle Seeds can be gathered both above ground and underground. The same layered methods used for mushroom farming work well here; be warned that the area will spawn jungle monsters. By creating an open-top area, trees will spontaneously grow, which is good for growing wood but not good for growing grass for seeds.
    • Jungle Roses can only be found below ground. Be warned that an underground jungle farm can spawn even more dangerous creatures including Man Eaters and Hornets.
Bear in mind! To farm Jungle Roses, you need to create your farm at about 500 feet deep, not just "below" as glowing mushrooms. If you plant Jungle seeds at the depth of less than 500 feet, no roses will grow there.
An underwater jungle farm can be created to farm Piranha for Hooks and the rare Robot Hat.
    Vile Mushrooms

Vile Mushrooms grow on corrupted grass. Enemies will spawn in planted corruption, but you can control the area using corrupt seeds. If it's close enough to your NPCs, the reduction in enemy spawns will keep anything from showing up. Vile mushrooms need to be in an area big enough to dim the sunlight, and they need to be naturally lit as with normal mushrooms above.
A somewhat dangerous project with potential side effects. Corrupting an area with Corrupt Seeds and layering it like a mushroom farm can provide an area for harvesting Vile Mushrooms for the production of Vile Powder. Unfortunately, a large corrupted area also spawns obnoxious corruption monsters, so this project should be undergone with careful placement and consideration.
This area may also serve as an arena for fighting the Eater of Worlds (see below). Note that an area of wooden platforms is recommended for the actual fight, however he may be summoned from within the farm.

    Meteors

Farming Meteor Heads can provide large amounts of coin. An "artificial" meteor can be created by placing exactly 50 meteorite in close proximity to each other. This can be done inside under controlled circumstances to farm these creatures. To deactivate the meteorite, removing only one piece is required.
    Arenas

Arenas are generally just big boxed-in areas designed to keep monsters out while focusing down a boss. They can certainly be decorated if the player is so inclined, and any addition to the arena that might confer an advantage to the player is recommended. Construct arenas near a demon altar and providing easy access to it if it is possible.
    Eye of Cthulhu

A highly recommended project for players who are about to summon their first boss. An arena for the Eye of Cthulhu should be large enough to dodge and maneuver around in, but small enough to seal off any enemies from wandering in and making the fight more difficult. A recommended size is just about the width of the screen.
Adding in a roof is also recommended to protect from airborne enemies and to keep retrievable ammunition from flying too far away. Making several large wooden platforms can make dodging simpler. As the fight will be at night, add torches to help visibility, including several in the ground underneath the arena.
    Eater of Worlds

Location is important for an arena of this sort. Specifically, the Eater of Worlds can only be summoned in Corruption, and as of update 1.0.5, can only be FOUGHT in the corruption. If there is corruption close to your base, then using it is recommended. Otherwise, artificial corruption using Corrupt Seeds and/or Ebonstone is necessary. An area of just corrupted dirt will work sufficiently to summon the Eater of Worlds. Large chunks of Ebonstone (generally 300+) will also work.
The Eater of Worlds is, of course, a burrower, and will usually be offscreen and underground for much of the fight. A properly constructed arena can remove much of that advantage. Make the arena fairly tall and easily climbable with many wooden platforms. That way, you can not only see it coming, but have access to attacking its exposed body on every pass as well.
    Goblin Army

Location is important for this arena as well. The goblins will naturally target your initial spawn, that is, the center surface of the map. So no matter what you actually have there, that's the general area where you will encounter goblins when they arrive. You may as well prepare a proper greeting for them.
Make sure there are no NPCs in this area, as they will be attacked and possibly killed during the fight. Goblin Sorcerers' attacks go through walls and they can teleport indiscriminately, so the only defense is to make sure that your NPCs are not nearby.
Flatten out an area and make sure that there are no pits or jumps. Walls are not necessary, as during an invasion the newly spawned monsters are the target rather than a distraction. Make certain that any platforms or areas can be easily and quickly reached from anywhere else on the screen, since most players will be looking to quickly close in on casters with their melee weapons.
    King Slime

The King Slime only spawns some distance away from the center of the map. As most bases are started near the original center spawn, a secondary outpost is necessary to farm this creature. Additionally, to facilitate spawning, a large flat area covered in grass reduces wait times.
Though this boss is particularly easy, and an arena probably isn't necessary, it's possible to exploit this creature's unwieldy size and movement pattern to create an area where it is impossible for the player to take damage during the fight. Create several "foxholes" poking up to the surface, large enough for the player to jump (and shoot) through but too small for the boss to travel in. Then connect them all with a tunnel.
    Underworld Outpost

The underworld has valuable resources not found elsewhere, so having an outpost accessible from your main base is important once you have progressed to that point. It currently has five enemies, the Fire Imp, Bone Serpent, Demon, Lava Slime and Hellbat. The Imp can be farmed for the Flower of Fire and the Plumber's Hat, the Bone Serpent can be farmed for Flamelash and Sunfury, and the Demon can be farmed for the Demon Scythe. Each of these creatures requires a different configuration to make kills fast and (relatively) safe. However, when mining hellstone, these creatures can be extremely dangerous, so when mining in the underworld it can be a good idea to create an artificial Meteor as Meteor Heads replace all other mob spawns, and are easier to deal with compared to ordinary underworld monsters.
    Dropshaft (Hellevator)

Through careful use of dirt and stone, players can even tunnel through lava lakes.
For the advanced player, reaching the underworld is quite a chore unless the player constructs a fast way down. Digging a 2-wide shaft that extends all the way from the surface to the underworld can save much time and trouble. Adding a secondary base in the landing zone is a possibility. Using this to transport water can make an area of the underworld much safer. Though as of version 1.0.5 water is no longer allowed in The underworld. So it is recommended that a water pocket, which allows a safe landing from the long drop, is placed in the cavern layer.
    Fire Imp Arena

Fire Imps, as anyone who has fought one knows, teleport quickly and shoot fireballs. The most important thing about an area you intend to fight imps in is mobility. An arena should be set up so that any location the imp teleports to can be quickly closed to melee range. Fast melee weapons, such as the Muramasa, lock down imps and leave them unable to attack or teleport.
    Bone Serpent Altar

Bone Serpents die if any one segment of their body, including head or tail, is reduced to zero health. The segment that dies is the only one that drops loot. If multiple segments die simultaneously, each drops loot. This can be accomplished through creative use of Dynamite.
The first step of a bone serpent altar is to make a platform out of a dynamite-proof material such as Hellstone. Add a small lip to either side to prevent the dynamite from rolling off. Then, add a wooden platform up above the first platform.
To farm bone serpents, throw dynamite onto the first platform timed such that most of the serpent will be caught in the explosion. Then, jump up to the wooden platform straight above the dynamite (but out of range of the explosion) to lure the serpent right into your trap. This takes practice. If a bone serpent is caught just right, upwards of ten to twelve times the normal amount of loot is dropped. This more than covers the cost of the dynamite and actually turns a tidy profit.
    Reservoir

Large water and lava reservoirs provide some convenience for projects, experiments, or quick obsidian. A large pool of water may spawn Goldfish at the bottom. Building the area for the liquid to sit in is easy, but filling it quickly and efficiently requires manipulation of the liquid physics.
    Harpy Nest

An arena area at the top of the map can be used to fight Harpies. This requires a very tall climbable structure in order to reach it. Harpies do not spawn close to the center of the map, so this must be made some distance away.
    Roof Access

A minor consideration at most, but a player that spends a fair amount of time in a large base has a good chance that Fallen Stars will accumulate on the roof overnight. The player may consider adding access to the roof to grab these. Depending on the layout and size of the base, a player may be able to simply jump to the ceiling from inside rooms in their base, and the star will pass through the ceiling to the player.
    B51 Corruption:
The corruption sure has lots of devourers

    The Corruption
The Corruption is a land of evil, the bane of Terraria. It contains great loot and great danger. The Corruption is designed for new-to-mid level players. I don't recommend entering the Corruption unless you have proper gear. Here's what I would recommend:

    • Iron, Silver, or Gold armor and weapons
    • Lesser Healing Potions
    • Increased max health (I'll explain this in a later section)
    How to get there:
The Corruption is marked by a purple-red sky and purple grass. To get there, just walk to one side of the map, you'll probably find some corruption along the way.

    Mobs in the corruption:
The Eater of Souls is a mob in the corruption. It has 40 health, and deals 20 damage per hit if you don't have armor. Your broadsword will knock it back far, so whenever the Eater comes close, hit it with your sword. It is the most common monster in the corruption. It drops rotten chunks (used for leather) and money.

The Devourer is the burrowing monster of the Corruption. Each segment has 100 HP and deals 22 damage per hit if you don't wear armour. It suffers no knockback, so take caution when fighting it. Once you kill one segment, the entire Devourer dies. You'll know it's coming when you hear a shuffling noise. It drops worm teeth, rotten chunks, and money.

The Eater of Worlds is the boss monster of the corruption. I do not recommend fighting this boss without high level gear and regular healing potions. It is summoned by using worm bait (more on boss summoners later) in the Corruption or by smashing 3 shadow orbs (more on this later). It has about 100 segments, each having 200 health. It does 40 damage if you don't wear armor and suffers no knockback. It is a burrowing monster, so you will hear a shuffling noise when he is coming. You must kill all of his segments before he is defeated. He drops demonite ore, shadow scales, money, and a random piece of the shadow-scale armor set after the fight.

Chasms, shadow orbs, and demon alters.
Chasms are naturally generated in the corruption. They boast a very long fall, so make sure you have a way of negating fall damage (such as the Lucky Horseshoe, grappling hook, or ivy whip)! When you reach the bottom, there could be a shadow orb, demon altar, or both. The shadow orb is usually encased in ebonstone, which is the corrupted version of the stone. You need to have a Nightmare Pickaxe or better to mine it (?).
A shadow orb can be destroyed with a hammer. It's drops include:
    • Ball'O'Hurt
    • Vilethorn
    • Band of Starpower
    • Musket (Along with some ammo)
    • Minishark (Very rare)
    • Orb of Light
When you destroy a shadow orb, there is a chance the Eye of Cthulu will spawn. When you destroy 3 shadow orbs, the Eater of Worlds will spawn.
Lemondew finding three Demon Altars next to each other.

Demon altars can be randomly found in the corruption (and also in caves). Here you can make a Suspicious Looking Eye, which can spawn the Eye of Cthulu. It is made out of 10 lenses, which are dropped by demon eyes. Here you can also make worm bait, which will summon the Eater of Worlds. It is made out of 15 rotten chunks and 30 vile powder. Rotten chunks are dropped by the Eater of Souls, and vile powder is made out of vile mushrooms found in the corruption. If you try to smash a demon altar with a hammer, you will loose half of your health.

    B52 Underground Jungle:
    Man, those Man-Eaters are annoying

The underground jungle is for end-game players, no doubt. It clearly does not have fun and games :D. Without the proper gear, any player would be fed to the hornets. Here's what I recommend:
    • Meteor or shadow-scale armor
    • Demonite weapons
    • Regular healing potions
    • Lucky horseshoe, as there is lots of falls here
    • A good pickaxe for collecting the loads of gems around the jungle.
    Mobs of the jungle:
The Hornet is a common flying mob of the jungle. It's flight pattern is smiler to the demon eyes'. They can be deadly in groups, as they deal 40 damage per hit. It has 100 HP. When killed, it drops one piece of Jungle armor, stingers, and money.

The Man Eater is less common than the hornet, but not by much. It attacks you by trying to "eat you." It lures you in by pulling it's neck in and then shoots it out at you. It has 200 HP and does 50 damage per hit. It can be killed by destroying the block the plant's tethered to, but it won't drop any loot than. Drops include the vines, money, and a piece of jungle armor.

    Jungle shrines
Jungle shrines are randomly found in the jungle, and are made entirely out of gold bricks. In the shrine is a chest with one unique item in it, such as feral claws, the anklet of the wind, and Nature's gift.

    B6 Mushroom Forests:
Man, what a lot of mushrooms!

The mushroom forest is not much to talk about. The main features are mushroom trees that drop blue mushrooms (which heal 40 HP). The blue mushrooms may also be found on the ground along with mushroom grass seeds (they can be placed on mud to spread). The mobs of the mushroom forest are the same as the caves with black background tiles.

    B7 Hell:
This is why you should have good gear

The underworld, commonly known as "Hell", is a very end-game place. It is very hard to navigate, as it has monsters and lava everywhere. Here's what I would recommend here:
    • Obsidian skull, as almost everything here will burn you (it doesn't work on lava though)
    • Something to negate fall damage (like the Lucky Horseshoe)
    • Rocket boots to get out of the lava
    • Nightmare pickaxe, for mining the obsidian and hellstone.
    • Amazing amount of max life (which can be increased with life crystals, more on this later)
    • Lots of regular healing potions
    • Buckets with water to turn lava into obsidian
Once you have this gear, you're ready to go to hell, no pun intended.

    Getting there:
An easy way to get to the underworld is to make a "Hellevator", where you dig straight down to the underworld, with cobwebs or water at the bottom to negate the fall damage.

    Mobs of the underworld:
Fire imps are a common enemy of the underworld. They have 80 HP and shoot burning spheres at you, which do 25 damage and can go through walls. If you hit the spheres, they'll be destroyed. Fire imps shoot 3 spheres at you and then teleport until they die. They drop money and (rarely) the Flower of Fire.

Bone serpents are the burrowing monsters of the underworld. They have 150 Hp for each segment, and deal 40 damage per hit. Drops include money, Sunfury, Flower of fire, and Flamelash.

Demons and Voodoo Demons are the flying mobs of the underworld. The Voodoo Demons drop the Guide Voodoo Doll, and the Demons drop Demon Scythe (a spell).

Lava Slimes are the slimes of the underworld. I believe they drop gel and money, but that I can't confirm that yet.

    Ruined buildings:
There are ruined buildings in the underworld made of hellstone brick. They usually have lava at the bottom and hellforges in them.

    Hellstone and chests:
Using your Nightmare pickaxe, you can mine some hellstone. once you have 6, you can combine them with 2 obsidian to make a hellstone bar.

Chests are commonly found in the underworld. They have better loot than ones above the underworld.

    Hearth crystals:
Hearth crystals can be found all over the world, but have an increased chance to be in the underworld. When you smash it with a hammer, it will drop a Life Crystal, which can be consumed to increase maximum life.

    B8 Floating Islands:
OMG! I FOUND A FLOATING ISLAND!

A floating island can be found usually around 500 ft (which can be measured with a Depth Meter). There is usually silver and gold ore encased within the island. Inside the building you can find on the island, there is a chest with loot inside. To get to the floating island, you can use rocket boots or building a tower towards it. Make sure to have a way to negate the fall damage you take when you get back down. Floating islands are recommended for early-to-mid game players.

    B9Dungeons:
    GET ME OUT OF HERE!

The dungeon is a gigantic, underground building at the edge of a map. It is for mid-to-end game players. Without the proper gear, any player will join the ranks of the undead. Here's what I would recommend:

    • Orb of light (basically an orb that follows you providing light)
    • Minishark to defeat skeletron (you have to beat this boss in order to enter the dungeon; more tips on how to defeat him later)
    • Meteorite or shadow-scale armor (molten armor if you want to be safe
    • Demonite or higher weapons
    • Any movement-aiding things, such as the anklet of the wind, necro armor, and Hermes boots
    • Lucky horseshoe (there's going to be a few drops)
    • Hammer to collect life crystals
    • Lots of healing potions
Once you have this gear, it's time to take the trek to the dungeon!

    Getting there:
To get there, simply walk to the edge of the map. If it's not on that edge, check the other edge. It is an enormous building made out of blue, green, or pink bricks.

    Getting in:
Unlike the jungle, you must defeat a monster to get access to the dungeon. When you get to the dungeon, you see an old man. You think, "Well he's not gonna do anything to me" and walk in. You just made a big mistake. Skeletron heads will spawn and instantly kill you. To get in, wait until night. When the music plays, talk with the Old Man. He will transform into skeletron without any words. Skeletron has 3 parts: the head, and 2 hands. The head has 6000 HP, and the hands have 1200 HP each. I recommend to focus on the head, as when it's dead, the fight ends. Skeletron has four moves, which are:

    • Clapping his hands, with you in between them (If both hands are present)
    • Slapping you (If at least 1 hand is present)
    • Giving you a "Backhand from Hell" (If at least 1 hand is present)
    • Spinning his head towards you.
When he dies, you have full access to the dungeon. Drops include money, healing potions, and sunfury.

    Mobs of the dungeon:
Angry bones are a common enemy of the dungeon. They only have 1 move: Run into you. They deal 35 damage per hit and have 100 HP. Drops include bones and money. They can open doors like zombies on a blood moon.

Dark casters are just a little bit less common than Angry bones, and are the wizards of the dungeon. They shoot a water sphere at you, which deals 20 damage per hit. The water spheres can go though walls and can be hit in mid-air to be destroyed. Dark casters have 50 HP. They shoot 3 times and then teleport. Drops include bones and money.

Cursed skulls are the flying monsters of the dungeon. The are like demon eyes in flight pattern, and, like all flying mobs, are knocked back far. They have 30 HP and deal 25 damage. Drops include bones and money.

    Loot in the dungeon:
Inside of the dungeon are chests, hellforges, and heart crystals. Loot the chests, as they contain amazing things. Smash the heart crystals with a hammer. Destroy the hellforges by using a Meteor Hamaxe.
    C1Meteor:
A group of people mining meteorite ore.

A meteor appears after you smash a certain amount of shadow orbs. It can also appear randomly, though it is rare. Meteorite Ore (which can be used to craft "light-sabers") can be found near the meteor crash site which makes finding meteors a good thing. However, meteor heads are constantly spawning near the meteor, so make sure to have a way to defend yourself. An Obsidian Skull is VERY recommended to have equipped, as stepping on the meteorite ore inflicts damage. Also, you MUST have a gold pickaxe or better to mine the meteorite ore. Here is the gear I recommend:

    Light's Bane
    Silver Armour
    Gold Pickaxe
    Obsidian Skull
    Cobalt Shield
    Lesser Healing Potions

    C2 Aboveground Jungle:
    The lush jungles of Terraria.
The aboveground jungle was added in version 1.0.4 and consists of piranhas (water mob), snatchers (kind of like man-eaters), jungle bats, and jungle slimes during the day. At night, zombies and demon eyes join the rumble. It's recommended for mid-to-late game players. Here is the gear I recommend:

    Gold Armor
    Regular healing potions
    Light's Bane
Gold Bow (good for fighting snatchers from afar)

An underground jungle can usually be found below the aboveground jungle.

    C3 Goblin Invasions:
The goblin army consists of these mobs

A goblin invasion occurs when you break one shadow orb and have at least 200+ health minimum. You also cannot have an invasion for at least seven in-game days between invasions. A message usually appears prior to an invasion saying, "The goblin army is approaching from the east/west." Also, if you don't know, west is left and east is right. The invasion consists of Goblin Warriors, Goblin Peons, Goblin Thieves (they can open doors), and Goblin Sorcerers (their spells can go through solid tiles. A recommended weapon for the Goblin Invasion would be to at least have Light's Bane or better. One of the most wanted drops are found during the invasion, rocket boots.

    C4 Outro-duction:

Well, it's been a long journey. This marks the end of the Full Terraria guide. After battling fire imps, holding off the goblin army, killing demons, swatting demon eyes away, chopping up zombies, beating Skeletron, and basically conquering Terraria, our journey is coming to an end. I hope you've learned a lot from this guide. I will continue to add more to the guide when Re-Logic makes an update, so don't worry about this guide being outdated. :)

Yes, you can. :) You've been really helpful. You don't have to if you don't want to though. Basically what I want for the Corruption section is a description of what it is, when to take it on (what gear is recommended), and the mobs in it. You don't have to do all of it though. If you feel tired, you can just finish it up and I'll finish it for you.
