Herro, I'm ElderWreckage (Elder for Short :3(Heroooo my name is boxxy)). Today I bring you a Guide to Port-Forward Terraria on the Windows OS (This means you don't need Hamachi :3)

NOTICE :: THIS IS FOR A 2WIRE GATEWAY ROUTER.

First, open "Run". The program. Type in "cmd". A simple black window will come up waiting for you to type a command. Type in "IPconfig". Scroll up to the Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection 2 section if you have Wireless Internet. If you have an Ethernet cord there should be the section along the lines of Ethernet Connection. When there, find your Default Gateway. Now open a new tab in the browser you are using, (Firefox, Safari, etc.(Never IE)) and type in the IP address given to you in Default Gateway. You should come to a control panel page. Click "Application Support", on that page, click "Enable Application Support". You will see a box with a list of programs such as Age of Empires. Under that box click "Add a new user-defined application". A page will come up that requires you to enter information. Only enter what I tell you to.

    Name (Preferably Terraria)
    Protocol (I'll explain below)
    Port (or Range)

Now, enter the name. Done, easy FAST STUFF BRO. Beside Protocol, TCP should be checked off, if not, check it off. Below that, Port (or Range) (Port (or Range) is the title, don't get confused by it), enter in From "7777" and in To "7777". Now click the "Add Definition" button. Now beside Protocol check off UDP, and enter the same ports. (From: 7777 To: 7777). Click "Add Definition" again and once that is loaded click "Back". You will be brought to the previous page. Now, in the list you should see "Terraria"*. Before you add it, above you will see Select a Computer, select the name of the computer the server will be hosted on (For Example "Owner-PC"). Final step, select Terraria in the Applications Box and click "Add". And You're done! Jeez that was a Keyboard-full. I hope this helped. Catch you on the Elder Side :3.

    Bai!

    Very long post :p

    Basically know these things : Terraria - Start:7777 End:7777 - BOTH - last number of IPv4

connection for others, google whatsmyIP. For you to join, type Localhost.

There are a lot of these floating around, I think a Mod should sticky one (This one.... maybe). :)

Whatismyip.com and IPchicken.com both tell you your EXTERNAL IP Address. You need the Internal to get to your Control Panel.

Well sir, can you go to your modem/router and find it's type? For a Belkin it could be any of the following:

So. What I know is you need a Static IP address. For a guide to set this up go here http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm and select your OS. After that, continue reading this.

Enter your Internal IP address. You should see a box prompting you for your password. Enter your password now. By default your password is blank. Click the Submit button to log in to your router. Click the Virtual Servers link near the left of the page. Enable the first 2 fields and type in for example Name1 and Name2, then (the following steps are for both fields) under Inbound Port, 7777 - 7777. Under Type, select Both. Put the "1" in the field of your Private IP Address again. Under Private Port, 7777 - 7777. Now Click Apply Changes at the top and if I'm correct you should be done. :3.

To Check if the Port is open, you can download this Port Checker. Check 7777 for both TCP and UDP. http://www.portforward.com/store/PFPortChecker.exe

EDIT: And yes. It is a free file.

Problem my default Gateway is a bunch of numbers and letters - there is no way to tell what my static ip is after and when i try 5.0.0.1 like the other default gatway says it gives me NO internet so idk when i goto the main page it tells me all my info when i put it in * the REAL info * it says " Another computer Has the same IP as you " and dissconnects
  9. ElderWreckage Green Slime

Well, if you can't do it without a static IP I don't kn0w how to help you. But try it without a Static IP first.

i followed this exact tutorial and it still doesnt work. Ever since they changed the ports to 7777 from 31337 other players have not been able to connect. The server was running fine on when it was on port 31337. Also, the open port check tool says the port is closed yet i followed this tutorial exactly. Please give me your thoughts and if you need screenshos i will post them

EDIT: I managed to get i working, i had 2 entries under my PC name and one of them was incoorect. THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!!!

This post is for people to see this guide. Someone in this forum copied what I had written and used it as their own post :{. Bastard.

Real quick, is this for Windows XP or Windows 7?
  16. RichEdmonds Green Slime

Both I'm guessing, all you need is your gateway IP (normally the router) for accessing the ACP, your internal IP and the above steps to insert the ports in the table. The connection information can be found in the Network Connections Centre or via the ipconfig command in terminal.

Can anybody help me with this? I've had the worst experiances with Port Forwarding and this is just another thing that I seem to be doing wrong..

Will the tatorial be the same for a linksys WRT610N Router?
If not then could you help me?

I had the same problem, if you look at every 'Description' you'll find there are 2 spaces already put into each slot. Just backspace twice on each, then add your info.

Edit: I forgot to explain why it does that! Those 2 spaces that are already placed in each 'Description' slot make the program think you are trying to forward on each slot. Since no other info, including the IP, has been set, it thinks you just aren't doing it right. I guess its just a bug in the software, kinda strange.

Umm, straight forward enough. But when I go to my modems web page there is no Applicatioon support.
Modem setup, Quick setup, wireless setup, utillities, and advanced setup. Those are the options.
