In the words of GLaDOS from Portal 2 "Blah blah blah blah"

    Good afternoon everyone.

Before I begin, please take note of the newly edited "Troubleshooting" post. I have edited it to include more up-to-date information as well as Do's and Don'ts while posting in the Support Forum. We have been seeing a lot of people doing the "Don'ts" that were already listed in the old post, so please be sure to follow these guidelines going forward.

    What's Next?
Now that we have released 1.0.4, we find ourselves already looking to 1.0.5 with many ideas we couldn't squeeze into 1.0.4 quite so readily. Going forward we face our first attempt at adding end level content to the game to make it longer. To do so, we are looking to better balance mid and end level game content as it is now. Many of you have already offered your thoughts in "Redigit's Balance MegaThread", and we are liking some of the input we are seeing.

Our focus on 1.0.5 (on top of balance, and starting to lay groundwork for end level content.) will also be looking to add some more content to the final two empty areas of the game. The Desert itself may get a few new things in it. Of course, because it can spawn near the start area sometimes, and is required to be passed through many of the times you are trying to get to mid-higher level areas, the desert itself will most likely remain a low to mid level area. So the Desert is not an option for our end level additions.
The Ocean at the end of the world, may or may not get some content as well in 1.0.5. We are hoping to add more 'depth' (pun :p) to it. Perhaps the ocean will find itself with some high level content, as it is always far from spawn.

Also we are aiming more for something in the underworld in the way of high level content. As that part of the game could use more content in general, and is fairly difficult in its own right.
We will be tossing ideas around the team until we find something that fits just right. We are also looking into the things Redigit mentioned in his last Dev Blog post. Such as worlds you can start up that are harder than a normal world. These additions may be staggered and added in pieces over a few updates since the addition of a whole new more difficult world would be like making another version of Terraria. New Biomes, new enemies, theres a lot that we could put in there, but it all takes time.

"TAKES TIME?! Hey now, we waited a whole week and a day between 1.03 and 1.04?!"
As you have noticed, our patches are starting to 'slow down' as it comes to time between release days. But it's not really slower if look at the amount we were able to add due to those extra days. This of course is due to us wanting to offer more stable and more 'filled to the brim' update releases.
The first three patches, as we stated previously, were focused primarily on fixing bugs present in the early-released version of the game. And we fully accept that people were disappointed with the content offered in those updates. However as you saw in 1.0.4, now that a the majority of bugs have started to become fewer, our focus can now change. We have started to focus more on starting to work in a few of the base game-play features we had wanted (Social Slots being the first of many) before we had originally planed to release.
Coming up down the road are more features, such as more PVP features/modes, status effects such as poison, and game-play dynamics like weather and enemy/friendly villages/castles. Depending on each of these features and which patch they come with, you may start to see us add a few more days to each patches 'wait' before release. As each new feature will need to be thoroughly tested and also some may take longer to implement than others. We simply ask for you patience for each patch, and we will do our best to make sure the wait is well worth it.

Our Fan's are kinda awesome, minus the kinda.
So many fan creations in the form of art, stories, comics and other things of that nature really impress us. They bring us to a place where we feel we can be proud of what we have created. If we can inspire such creative things from others, then we are really doing what we hoped we could.

If anyone has missed it. My favorite fan creation so far is definitely the Comic by Elagune. Its extremely well made and I look forward to seeing new frames every time I click on it. I also hope VerbalProcessing keeps making more moving adaptations of it.

Every so often I go to Deviantart.com and search to Terraria. And I am very pleasantly surprised at some of the fan art there. In regards to that, I hope to soon update our main website (which really needs an overhaul) to include a fan art page where we showcase artwork that has been posted here on the forum.

    Oh Hey! The Website!
Now that I've mentioned it. It really does need some re-working, and also the addition of a few pages, Community Site Links, Fan Art, etc. So I will be attempting a re-working of it myself over the next few days. If I completely fail at it however, we may seek assistance in that matter. (Please don't offer your assistance just yet.) Hopefully in the end, our website will be worth visiting for reasons other than just finding the BUY NOW button and viewing the support page (that also needs some work).

    June 16th.
Oh hey, look! Our one month anniversary is coming up. We haven't decided if we will be doing anything special in game or not to celebrate. But it would be great to see everyone log in and play on the 16th, regardless of how long you play. It would be awesome if we could blow our record of players on at one time out of the water on that day. Currently I think it stands at around 37,000 players at once logged in and playing. Hope to see you there!

    E3, We didn't go?!
Yeah, we were invited by a few different companies that all wanted to meet us. And we would have gone if our game release had come a month sooner. But with such short notice we were unable to attend. On a side note, being the PR guy, I am wondering how interesting it would be to meet so many people at once who want to talk about the game/Re-logic and all that. So in regards to that, I will be attending a Gaming/Anime convention in my area this month. It's one that I have gone to on a yearly basis these last couple years, but never as someone who is 'well known', if you can call me that. It's also one of the smaller conventions of its nature (about 2000 in attendance a year.) so it will be a good chance for me to test the waters and see how I'm treated by fans (and possibly haters.) that I happen to run into in person.

    Blah Blah Blah
Oddly enough a lot of people want to hear about more than just the game in my dev blog and twitter. I'm not sure why what I do on a day to day basis would be interesting to people. But I thought I would throw out a few things Ive done lately to appease those people. Ill keep it off my twitter though, as I like to have that be less 'spam' and more 'important'.
Played Portal 2 coop with Redigit yesterday. Game is epic win, and I found out, Redigit likes to kill me in funny ways... usually utilizing pits of deadly water.
Saw Super 8 in theaters last night. I liked it, while at the same time, it lacked a certain closure at the end. I think it was because the movie had two stories going on at once. A Earth side "drama about families in a small town" and the "scifi part" Either way, both were good stories and could have been their own separate movies.
Also, right now, I'm eating Chinese food. Yum.

Edit by Blue : I would like to clarify something to prevent misconception. Everything I stated is what we would LIKE to do, and nothing in this post should be taken as hard evidence as its inclusion in 1.0.5 no matter what. Thank you.

Oh, and no one called first.

This has got to be the only place where that happens.

Don't worry about patch speed; players in general are much more concerned over the quality of patches. A million patches in the theme of "we changed dirt's color to be more realistic" would probably be much less well-received than a couple of patches that add tons of new content (like you've been doing so far).

Looking forward to that Ocean endgame biome, as gigantic, unfathomably deep bodies of water always spark that fear and nervousness in every person. Perhaps with Endling's Terror of the Deep?

Grats on the 1 month so far guys!

Sounds very interesting. I only just beat the first boss so I'm not quite near the end game yet....but it'll be nice to have more content when I eventually get to that point.

The deserts will really benefit with something new too. I don't really see the problem with a patch taking a while to come out, it just means it'll be that much more worth it when we eventually do get it. (Besides I've more than enough to be doing with the game for now in the meantime)

(I hope there will be another town npc maybe, can't get enough of those npcs.) I'm building an empire. :p

Thanks for the update, Blue. You are Redigit are doing an amazing job. Keep up the good work, but don't burn yourselves out! We wanna hear more about what goes on on Re-Logic's off-days!
