This just in from the devs: Terraria has sold over 200,000 copies! It's been such an exciting ride here. You've all helped build a great, huge community here dating back well before pre-release. All of your suggestions have helped make Terraria the game it is today, and what a great game it is! We're all hoping for amazing future patches and further community growth here at Terraria Online. Congratulations to the development team - you guys have earned it! Get in on our ever-growing Terraria Community: Join us in our Steam group, our Facebook Group, and tell all your friends to play!
Congrats! ...and I hope the future items are alternatives rather than superiors. Like armor that makes you fall slowly or a weak sword that freezes things rather than "Sun of greater fury" that then slaughters all older content with 9001 damage.
They don't get it all, as steam takes a cut, and they have to pay taxes, but they've made at least a million by now.
So thats around $1 million+ in a week.Nice.Its time to hire 1 or 2 more coders to pump out some fast content to cash in more moolah. Also i wonder if Red and Blue expected it to sell this much?
Lol, congratz. Quite happy I helped in that number! They are probably making more then they 'dreamed' for. xD
Still, ~2mill in overall revenue (for steam) is a great thing. Definitely makes me curious, though, about just what the split is.
Steam gives 70% of the price to the devs: ~$1.4 Million Congrats Blue and Red, you guys are awesome. I look forward to future, and larger content patches.
Yeah because having a 2 man team and selling 200.000 copies in a week adds more hours to a day where they can work longer. Right?
Steam might get about 5% of what they make or maybe less because terraria is getting people to download steam there for steam is getting more costumers
Nuff said... No but it may make them a little more motivated to better what they are selling so they can get more.
